This bird-shaped brooch "Antelė" is a precise reconstruction of an archaeological find dating back to the Late Iron Age (10th–13th centuries). The original artifact was discovered in the Pavirvytės-Gudų cemetery (Akmenė district), which is rightfully considered one of the most unique and valuable monuments of this period, not only in the Semigallia region but in the entire context of the Baltic states.
Pin it comfortably into thicker fabric so that the brooch stays in place and does not tilt downwards. In ancient times, this bird was not worn as a separate piece of jewelry. It was an inseparable part of a chest jewelry complex. The pendant used to be hung on chains with pins. Therefore, we have made it into a brooch.
Meanings of ancient signs In Baltic culture, the "bird" motif is often associated with vitality, the soul, or the role of a mediator between earth and heaven. Our recreated silver brooch is a reconstruction of the archaeological find discovered in the Pavirvytės-Gudų cemetery. It is one of the most unique examples of Semigallian cultural heritage, combining luxury and deep symbolism.
Bird symbol – In the Baltic worldview, the bird is a soul bearer and a mediator between heaven and earth. It symbolizes freedom, light, and spiritual protection.
Protective amulet – Ancestors wore this little bird as an amulet, believing it warded off evil forces. An ancient ornament for protection.
The silver brooch is not only a piece of jewelry that adds style to an outfit but also a potential treasure for wearing a piece of national history. Ideal for those seeking authenticity, meaning, and signs of Baltic identity with protective symbols.
